“Cryss, it’s not for you.”

Everything I do in my life has a meaning. Someone told me yesterday “Cryss, why are you doing DoorDash? It’s not for you, you already have a good job, another side hustle etc etc…”

There was a point in my life where I was struggling. This was when my oldest daughter, Deyzha was getting sick. I was taking her to all types of appointments and losing mad hours. When you lose hours and run out of paid vacation and sick time, it really takes a hit to your paycheck. On top of that, I wasn’t qualified for Paid Family Leave yet. Moving forward, one of my close friends, Jenn, I will talk more about Jenn later (Rest in Love 🙏🏽); she put me on Doordash. She was a “Dasher” at the time and to her it was a solution to help me earn some extra money. She went with me to the orientation in Concord, then took me on my first few deliveries because I was too shy and uncomfortable — embarrassed even. I never pictured myself delivering food. But at the end of the day, it taught me how to be humble. I remember going on my first delivery. I asked her to drive because I was nervous. It was a pizza delivery and we had to travel all the way to Lafayette, deep in the hills somewhere. I just remember the long boring drive. We were surrounded by trees and even lost cell phone signal in some areas. We ended up in this super rich neighborhood. The houses were like mansions. I didn’t even know that this neighborhood existed.

Anyway, because of Jenn, I was able to make some extra money to get by until things went back to normal. Taking on this side gig also taught me that I could make extra money ONLY if I got up everyday with that money making mentality. Laziness is not an option.

With that said, this is why I do it. I do it because it reminds me of her. After I lost Jenn, I made a promise to myself to embrace every minute I had with the people I care about. Even if it’s to deliver food in a remote place. Dashing reminds me of our long drive to Lafayette complaining and laughing about how deep the drive was to the customer. It reminds me of how much Jenn hustled when she was still here. So yes, DoorDash is for me. As a matter of fact, I’m going to work this Saturday evening just because I want to. I miss Jenn.

Earn $15-$24 an hour delivering food. The best part, customers have an option for you to hand them the food or leaving it at their door. It’s super easy. Tap on the link to deliver with DoorDash.

Earn Cash Back While You Shop Anywhere!

Don’t throw your receipts away! If you’re going to shop or dine out, you might as well get some of your money back. And I’m all about saving money! I found an app that will pay you CASH just for shopping.

IBOTTA is an app that I use to make real money every time I shop for groceries, online purchases, and more! For example, when you shop at Target, make sure you add the items that qualify for cash back before going to the actual store. Once you purchase the items, Ibotta will credit you the money the item qualified for. For Thanksgiving, I got my turkey ($9.98) and some dinner items for FREE just by using this app. Once you earn $20 or more in cash back, you have an option to CASH OUT! It’s worth it!

FETCH is another app that I use. But instead of cash back, this app rewards you with gift cards. I shop on Amazon A LOT so I use this app to earn credit towards free gift cards. The cards range from $3 and up. To earn a $3 gift card, you just need 3,500 points. I was able to earn point fast because I go grocery shopping and shop online a lot! And when you do this in combo with the IBOTTA app, you’re saving more money!

Tap here to download the FETCH app!

In these trying times, do yourself a big favor and download these apps and earn your money back! Don’t forget to tell your friends about it too! Sharing is caring!

How I lost 10 lbs in a month — without a gym membership.

This post is for educational and entertainment purposes only.

Hawaii was a month away so I needed to act fast. Unfortunately, my trip to the islands had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. All I have to say is that it’s been a crazy 2020 thus far. Especially with the loss of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others who passed away in that helicopter crash. I have to admit, I’m still having a tough time accepting it, plus I haven’t completely gotten over the death of Nipsey Hussle either.

Moving forward, I wanted to share my workout routine with you. From the beginning to the end. I’m not fitness instructor nor am I a personal trainer. I don’t even work at a gym! 🤣 But if you plan on following my routine, awesome! Remember to move slowly first then gradually increase your sets.

Please consult your physician before beginning this or any exercise program! As with any exercise program, if at any point during your workout you begin to feel faint or dizzy, or have physical discomfort, you should stop immediately.

  1. 20 minutes of stretching — arms, legs, your ass, your back ( I will show you how I stretch my back in another post)
  2. 15 minutes of jump rope (best cardio ever) or you can walk on a treadmill for an hour or…
  3. Do Burpees – 15 to 20 of them to get your heart going. Or…
  4. Shadow box! But if you have a heavy bag, that’s awesome! Put on your hand wraps, your gloves and be ready to punch the bag. Hit the bag with straight jabs for 3 minutes without stopping.
  5. 15 lb kettlebell workout. If you don’t own a kettlebell you can use a 15 lb dumbbell. If you would like to order a kettlebell, you can find one Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2wfRVBt
  6. For beginners, here’s a good 15 minute Kettlebell workout video that you can follow on YouTube: https://youtu.be/pTVZs7aYrHw
  7. 3 sets of 25 stomach crunches.
  8. Squats! This is the best exercise to tone your legs and give your butt a lift! I usually do 50 squats per workout. Sometimes more.
  9. Cool down
  10. Meditation

I do highly recommend the HIIT workout. HIIT means, “high-intensity interval training.” This is when you go ALL OUT. It sort of feels like you’re doing cardio level 100. The best thing about this workout is that you don’t need equipment however, expect to sweat a lot. Here is a video that will help you get started: https://youtu.be/1skBf6h2ksI

I bet you’re curious to find out what my daily diet is. Basically, I cut down on eating bad carbs (pasta, rice, bread) and replaced it with good carbs (sweet potatoes, quinoa, kidney beans – YUCK) I increased my spinach and kale intake, about 2-3 cups of greens per day. I stopped drinking soda. Whenever I wanted to get my soda fix, I would replace a Coke with sparkling water. I cut off candy! I cut off desserts. I cut off everything that could give me a cavity. I drink LOTS of water.

Working out isn’t just about losing weight or toning your arms. Working out gives you a chance learn your body and be in tune of yourself. To hit your weight loss goal, it takes discipline, determination, persistence, and consistency. Don’t get me wrong, I love the gym. The gym is my safe haven. But I also love saving money too.
